Cancellation of May Event

Posted over 5 years ago by Marci Newcome

ASMNP Members,

We are all closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19. It is unlike anything most of us have seen in our healthcare careers. We are all diligently preparing our homes and health systems to brace the predicted influx of patients.

The health and safety of not only our ASMNP members but also our community is of utmost importance to me. We are cancelling our May event in response to this.

Our May event was to celebrate our graduating students. If you are a graduating NP student (either MSN, DNP, PhD) please email me at asmnp.news@gmail.com. Our membership  board member Jill Hunchis will ensure you get a free year of ASMNP membership.

To our vendors: we thank you for your ongoing interest and support of ASMNP. Our quarterly events would not be possible without you. We meet in June as a board to determine dates for next year. I will be in communication once those dates are finalized.

To our members: I thank you for supporting ASMNP as your local professional organization. I want each of you to take care of yourself and your families at this time. I realize that our healthcare systems are enacting many new policies and procedures in response to the COVID-19 threat. It can be anxiety provoking. As nurse practitioners, we are used to being front line workers in the midst of outbreaks. We are critical thinkers, flexible, and ready to respond to the challenges before us. Please find time to rest, practice self-care, and social isolation as you are able.

Most important, we must care for our community at large. That may include sharing your toilet paper. Not visiting the elderly in nursing homes. And trying to keep our grimy children’s hands and coughs to themselves (good luck!)

With you in health,

Natalie Mohammad
