2019-2020 ASMNP President's Message
Posted almost 6 years ago by Marci Newcome
Greetings ASMNP Members!
My name is Natalie Mohammad and I am your appointed ASMNP President for the 2018-2020 term. This is my second year serving as President and I am excited to watch ASMNP grow throughout the coming year.
A few updates for the 2019-2020 year:
ASMNP is currently at 95 members. Our goal is to get over 100 members this year. If your membership has lapsed, please consider renewing. Student member rate is $20/year and full time NP members are $45/ year. Membership comes with a variety of benefits. ASMNP proudly sponsors 4 member events each year. We are working on offering CME credit at the next two events (more details as the event nears!) Your membership gets you free access to these events which includes meal, speaker, and networking opportunities. Membership keeps you up to date on legislative affairs at the state and national level. You have access to the ENP website that shares details of other NP groups from the nation. We are hopeful to partner more closely with our colleagues at the APRN Coalition. My goal as President is to donate money on behalf of ASMNP to the APRN Coalition which would directly be used for policy and legislation at the MN legislature. We need memberships to do so!
We had a great Fall Kick-Off event at Garden Marketplatz in September. We barely could begin the presentation given the non-stop mingling between members. MNNP and AANP provided overviews of their organizations and plans for the year. We heard updates on pneumococcal vaccination and heart failure from our vendors.
ASMNP Board met last week to make plans for the year ahead. I am honored this year to serve on our board alongside:
Cecilia Engler-Past President
Julie Alleckson - Secretary
Christal Barton – Treasurer
Jill Hunchis – Membership Committee
(open position) –Legislative Committee
Stephanie Ahrens & Amanda Solberg –Event Planning
Jillian Lynaugh – Student Liaison
Marci Newcome – Communications
We welcome any feedback throughout the year to help our organization grow and expand. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the nurse practitioners in our region.
Natalie Mohammad, APRN CNP
