ASMNP Scholarship Feedback
Posted over 6 years ago by Marci Newcome
ASMNP Members,
For the past 3 years, the ASMNP board has been debating whether to start a scholarship for ASMNP members and student members. We have worked closely with our accountant and non-profit hub the Rochester Area Foundation (RAF) to consider all options. I met with Jeremy Emmi from the RAF to review how we can partner together to create this scholarship. The best option for our organization would be to create a Donor Advised Fund through the RAF. We would put money into this fund and then determine who and where it would go. It may be used for advanced degrees such as MSN to DNP/PhD or BSN to MSN/DNP/PhD. The money itself would go to the school not the individual because of how the fund is arranged.
In order to create a donor advised fund, ASMNP would need to have $10,000 in the fund before any money could be awarded. Clearly, that is a lot of money to save. Our member dues and income from vendor fees are currently used for our large social events, community outreach events (such as Ronald McDonald house dinner), and for office space/ administrative costs. In order to fund this scholarship, ASMNP would need to save money over the next few years. The ASMNP board does not feel comfortable making such a decision without member input. As such, we have created a survey and would very much appreciate your feedback. It should only take 1-2 minutes to complete the survey.
I am happy to discuss more information in person with individual members or share more at our upcoming event.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey & for your continued membership in ASMNP.
